The Alberta branch of the Canadian Bar Association (“CBA”) and the Law Society of Alberta have announced that nominations are now accepted for the 2025 Distinguished Service Awards.
All members of the legal profession are eligible for nomination, apart from Benchers, staff members of the Law Society of Alberta and CBA, and members of the judiciary. Selection criteria is based on the candidate’s initiative, obstacles they have overcome, significance of their achievement, impact, dedication, results achieved, effective contribution to the role of the law in society, and their position as a role model for other lawyers. Awards are granted based on the following categories:
- Service to the Profession
- Legal Scholarship
- Service to the Community
- Pro Bono Legal Service
- Service to Promoting Equity, Diversity & Inclusion in the Legal Profession
