The Canadian Bar Association is hosting its annual Law Day events and they need volunteers!
First held by the CBA in 1983 to recognize the signing of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, Law Day continues to educate the public, offering events that open a door into the Canadian legal system.
When and Where?
This year, Law Day events are happening in 7 cities around Alberta, on the following dates:
• April 15: St. Paul
• April 16: Calgary, Edmonton, Medicine Hat, and Slave Lake
• April 23: Lethbridge
• May 28: Fort McMurray
There are currently volunteer positions available for the following events:
• Ask-a-Lawyer
• So You Want To Be a Lawyer
• Dial-a-Lawyer
Ask-a-Lawyer
Are you a lawyer who practices family law, civil litigation, criminal law, or immigration law, and are you interested in volunteering for one of the CBA’s Law Day events? If so, register for the Ask-a-Lawyer event in Calgary on April 16 between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
Volunteers are responsible for providing free legal advice to members of the public.
So You Want To Be a Lawyer
Get the opportunity to speak to grade school and undergraduate students who are interested in law careers. All areas of practice (including non-practicing lawyers) are welcome to volunteer for this event!

Dial-a-Lawyer
The Dial-a-Lawyer event is an initiative of the CBA Alberta Access to Justice Committee, in partnership with Legal Aid Alberta, CPLEA, PBLA, CLG, ECLC, and CLERC. Volunteers are needed to provide free legal advice to members of the public over the phone.
If you’re a lawyer who practices civil litigation, criminal law, family law or immigration law and are interested in volunteering for the Dial-a-Lawyer event, register in Calgary or Edmonton. Four-hour shifts are available April 16 between 9:30 AM and 5:00 PM.
