Wills Panel at the Alberta Law Conference

This panel will be dedicated to the new Wills & Succession Act which dramatically changes and amalgamates various legislation. At this time, perhaps the most controversial aspect relates to revisions to the Matrimonial Property Act. Matrimonial property calculations must now be part of the estate practitioner’s arsenal. As well, the Court will now be able to rectify wills and to interpret them with a broader set of tools. The effect this will have on estate litigation will be explored. Drafting considerations together with a general overview of the new Act will also be presented.
