The Court of King’s Bench of Alberta announced the release of the Desk Divorce Package Clerk Review Checklist (the “Checklist”). It is designed to foster consistency of family law practice across Alberta, to reduce the number of errors in forms, and to improve clarity for the public, legal professionals, staff, and stakeholders.
The Checklist covers:
- Technical Rule Requirements: Ensuring compliance with applicable procedural rules
- Clearance Process Confirmation: Documenting that all necessary steps in the Federal Central Registry of Divorce Proceedings clearance process has been completed
- Form Compliance Information: Identifying the key elements required for accurate and complete submissions
- Clerk Actions: Detailing the review process and actions clerks undertake to finalize filings
