Events are her forte! Meet: Kathy Fortier

In addition to our annual LESA Refresher (scheduled for April 2025 with a focus on Wills and Estates) LESA is excited to launch our first-ever two-day institutes in Calgary this year. The first of which is our upcoming Alberta Family Law Institute taking place November 28-29, 2024. Next up is our Alberta Litigation Institute taking place March 6-7, 2025. This week on the LESA blog, we’re spotlighting one of our dedicated staff members–Kathy Fortier. Kathy is our Event Delivery and Business Development Lead and has worked with LESA for seventeen years. During her time at LESA, Kathy has planned and coordinated dozens of multi-day conferences, hundreds of in-person programs, and several online webinars.

Depending on the program format and length, the planning of LESA programs begins anywhere from two years to a few months in advance of a program running. Multi-day conferences are typically booked several months, sometimes years, in advance with considerations given to every aspect of the conference, including learning spaces, networking breaks, and meals. Other considerations when planning a multi-day conference include guest room availability/pricing and food and beverage options for each day. These conferences are also carefully scheduled to avoid coinciding with school vacations such as spring break, fall break, or teachers’ conventions.

If you are planning to attend any of LESA’s multi-day programs this year, be sure to stop by the LESA check-in desk to say hi to Kathy. We look forward to welcoming you!
