Canadian Islamic History Month

LESA celebrates Canadian Islamic History Month. Established in 2007, this month signifies an opportunity for Canadians to explore the rich history of Islam in Canada, and to recognize the contributions and achievements of Muslim Canadians to our society, culture, politics, economy, and arts.

We recognize the challenges and barriers that Muslim Canadians may encounter, and the significant racism and hate that Muslim communities have faced this past year. This month is a reminder to collectively move towards a more compassionate, inclusive, and safe Canada for all.

As we celebrate one another’s cultures, traditions, and histories, and as more and more workplaces develop anti-racism policies and look to shift their systems and culture, it is imperative that lawyers who handle employment, human rights, or workplace investigation matters stay up to date on the law and related practice. Our upcoming Anti-Racism in Employment law (Webinar) will explore relevant human rights jurisprudence and practical strategies relating to policies, employee training, and reporting systems through the lens of cognitive bias and theory.
