We are excited to announce that the 2024 update to the Alberta Business Law Practice Manual is in production! The hardcopy editions are rolling off the press and the online edition for the LESA Library is being uploaded. If everything proceeds as planned, the manual will be ready for your use next week!
If you aren’t already a LESA email subscriber, take a moment to subscribe to our E-List or Business Law email list so that you’ll receive notification when the manual is ready for use.
The Alberta Business Law Practice Manual is a comprehensive resource designed for business lawyers in Alberta. Whether you practice in corporate law, intellectual property law, oil and gas law, or commercial litigation, this manual provides essential information and precedents for any business law practitioner.
The 2024 update to the Alberta Business Law Practice Manual provides practice updates and reflects legislative changes to a number of areas of business law. Highlights include:
- A new chapter on societies and not-for-profits
- Amendments to the Business Corporations Act, Partnerships Act, as well as other legislative and regulatory changes
- Developments, practice notes, and tips for incorporations, corporate records, shareholder rights and remedies, business acquisitions, securities, trusts, intellectual property, and more
- New and updated precedents, including two brand new settlement agreements and releases
It takes a fair few months, dozens of volunteers, and countless hours of work to update one of LESA’s comprehensive practice manuals, and each manual is in rotation for an update every couple years to keep the content current. We couldn’t have done this update to the Alberta Business Law Practice Manual without the help of the many volunteer subject matter experts who updated the manual’s two dozen chapters. We so appreciate the following subject matter experts who made this update happen. Thanks for giving of your time, talent, and expertise!
