The Court of King’s Bench of Alberta has announced that the Civil Search Portal will be expanding to include no fee/fee exempt searches. The following eligible parties can submit no fee/fee exempt searches:
- Alberta Human Rights and Citizenship Commission
- Alberta Surface Rights Board
- Government of Alberta Organizations (funded under General Revenue)
- Legal Aid (Legal Aid Certificate must be filed)
- Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) (only during execution of duties)
- Peace Officers (only during execution of duties)
- Provincial Crown Prosecutors
- Public Trustee (exceptions may apply)
This update is effective October 18, 2024, and there will be a two-week grace period for eligible parties to be notified. For further information on this update, read the complete announcement here.
