Faculty Announcement: Civil Litigation Symposium

During the first ten years of a civil litigation practice, lawyers face unique challenges and opportunities. This upcoming full-day program will explore topics to support lawyers to increase their competence and enhance their practice. Topics include strategies in oppression applications before the Commercial List, advocacy before tribunals, hearing officers, and boards, effective pre-trial questioning, and more.

Chair

Richard Billington KC, Billington Barristers
Richard N. Billington, K.C. is the founder of Billington Barristers. He has experience before all levels of Court in Alberta, the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal. Richard has also appeared before the Courts of other provinces and territories, and is experienced in mediation and arbitration.

Olivia Dixon, Osler Hoskin & Harcourt LLP
Oliva Dixon is a Partner at Osler Hoskin & Harcourt LLP. She is a corporate and commercial litigation lawyer with a focus on energy litigation, construction litigation and international commercial arbitration. Olivia has acted in litigation surrounding major resource projects, including judicial review applications, regulatory appeals, and more.

William Katz, JSS Barristers
William Katz is an Associate at JSS Barristers. He practices civil litigation with a focus in shareholder litigation, corporate and investment fraud, construction disputes, personal injury, and employment law. William is also experienced in the arbitration, mediation, and negotiation of civil disputes.

Keltie Lambert, Witten LLP
Keltie Lambert practices civil litigation at Witten LLP with a focus on indigenous law, employment & labour law, commercial litigation and construction law. She has represented clients at all levels of court in Alberta and the Supreme Court of Canada, and is widely experienced in Alternative Dispute Resolution.

Dana Schindelka, DLA Piper
Dana Schindelka has over 25 years of experience in litigation and dispute resolution. He offers counsel in the areas of commercial, employment, professional liability, energy, insurance, and more. He has represented clients at the Supreme Court of Canada and to all levels of court in Alberta and ‎Saskatchewan.
