The Government of Canada has announced the appointment of the Honourable D. Blair Nixon as the new Associate Chief Justice of the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta in Calgary.
Associate Chief Justice Nixon received a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Calgary. In 1988, he was called to the bar and in 2004, he was appointed King’s Counsel.
In 2014, Associate Chief Justice Nixon was appointed to the Court of King’s Bench. In 2016, he was appointed as a Deputy Judge of the Supreme Court of Yukon, the Supreme Court of Nunavut, and the Supreme Court of the Northwest Territories.[1]
Associate Chief Justice Nixon will be replacing retired Associated Chief Justice John D. Rooke. LESA wishes to thank Associate Chief Justice Rooke for his contributions to the Alberta legal profession (and for his many contributions to LESA offerings) as well as extend a warm congratulations to Associate Chief Justice Nixon as he begins this new chapter.
