Latin American Heritage Month

LESA celebrates Latin American Heritage Month in Canada. October is a culturally significant month for Latinx people around the world. Towards the end of October and beginning of November, Día de los Muertos (the Day of the Dead), is traditionally celebrated by people of Mexican heritage and other Latinx communities. Its origins are in Indigenous Aztec customs. This multi-day holiday honours friends and family members that have passed away and celebrates those who are still living through the sharing of gifts, sweet treats, and written notes.

The Latinx community brings vibrant cultures to the Canadian community through their unique traditions, customs, stories, arts, and music. As we celebrate one another’s cultures, traditions, and histories, and as more and more workplaces develop anti-racism policies and look to shift their systems and culture, it is imperative that lawyers who handle employment, human rights, or workplace investigation matters stay up to date on the law and related practice. Our upcoming Anti-Racism in Employment law (Webinar) will explore relevant human rights jurisprudence and practical strategies relating to policies, employee training, and reporting systems through the lens of cognitive bias and theory.
