The Alberta Lawyers Indemnity Association (ALIA) sees a fair volume of claims against lawyers in relation to residential real estate transactions. This presentation examines the current professional liability and misappropriation indemnity group policy and lawyers’ obligations with respect to self-reporting potential claims. It considers common traps that lawyers can fall into when conducting residential real estate conveyancing. The presentation includes a robust Q&A session that taps into the professional experience of senior members of the bar on faculty and in attendance at the conference.
