This paper was presented at the Civil Litigation for Legal Support Staff seminar held in May of 2009. The paper outlines what legal ethics are and how they apply to the role of the legal assistant. The author also discusses the lawyers ethical obligations and how a legal assistant can assist their lawyers and ensure compliance with the Law Society of Alberta’s Code of Professional Conduct.
