This paper discusses the rules in Part 10, Divisions 1 and 2 of the Rules of Court, discussing:

1. How a review officer reviews for reasonableness a lawyer’s retainer/contingency fee agreement and charges, and
2. How the court and assessment officers assess the costs of litigation.

Attached are valuable precedents for use in the assessment or review process, including bills of costs, an appointment for assessment, an appointment for judgment and an affidavit in support.
