LESA wishes to extend our heartfelt condolences to the friends, family, and loved ones of the Honourable Judge Laura K. Stevens who passed away on January 1, 2023. Judge Stevens was an avid LESA supporter and served as faculty on several past criminal law programs. She also served as chair of our Intensive Advocacy program.
After completing her law degree at the University of Alberta in 1983, Judge Stevens began her legal career practicing in Alberta, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut representing clients at all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada. Judge Stevens was named Queen’s Counsel in 2004 and was appointed a Provincial Court of Alberta Judge (Criminal Division) in 2014.
The contributions Judge Stevens made to the Alberta legal community throughout her career will be fondly remembered.
