LESA is saddened to hear of the passing of Justice William “Bill” J. Girgulis on December 10, 2022.
Justice Girgulis received his law degree from the University of Saskatchewan and practiced in Edmonton for his career, achieving partner at Field Law. He was appointed to the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta in 1981, a position he held until his retirement in 2006. He volunteered of his time to assist with three of LESA’s publications in the areas of family, wills and estates, and foreclosures.
Justice Girgulis was an accomplished lawyer, having argued before all levels of the court including the Supreme Court of Canada, and his contributions to the Alberta legal community will be fondly remembered.
