Updates to Court Case Management

The Court of King’s Bench of Alberta has announced several updates to Court Case Management (“CCM”).

Effective May 23, 2024, counsel is required to leave an action in CCM if they are no longer a representative of any of the parties on the style of cause. To leave an action in CCM, counsel must locate the matter they wish to withdraw from and click the “leave action” button. Counsel can only leave a matter if they have either initiated the matter or have already joined the matter as an action participant. The matter must also contain an action number – counsel cannot leave a matter with a reference number alone. Read the full announcement here.

Effective May 23, 2024, legal assistants will be able to access the CCM. By June 4, 2024, legal assistants requiring access to the CCM must create their own account. Only upon a lawyer’s approval will legal assistants be able to work in CCM. It is important to note that for legal assistants to create an account, the lawyer must first have a CCM account.

For further instructions on how to leave an action in the CCM, and how to create a CCM account, read the Counsel Quick Guide.
